Something that wasn’t on the collective (no pun intended) Sister Ray bingo card was one of the key figures in alternative rock making a pivot into trap over 40 years into her career but boy are we glad Kim Gordon did. The sound here is more Death Grips’ “The Money Store” than it is “Daydream Nation” but the samples used in “The Believers” and “I Don’t Miss My Mind” make it not unfamiliar territory for those more inclined to noise rock than Soundcloud rap. We will always admire a creative left-turn, and this is one of the finest, possibly, of the decade so far.
