In Times of Dragons sounds like classic Tori Amos — but dialled up into something bigger, stranger and way more overtly political. She’s described the album as a kind of mythic story about democracy fighting back against tyranny, with this surreal cast of “lizard demon” villains and symbolic characters standing in for real-world power structures . It’s all very on-brand: piano-led, theatrical, a bit gothic, and packed with dense storytelling, but this time the metaphors feel sharper and more tied to what’s actually going on in the world right now
